The Primea Touch Plus has all of the features in our Primea Ring Plus Plus fully automatic coffee/espresso center, but instead of having the "Ring" controls to select drinks and other menu options, the Primea Touch Plus features the first-ever colorized touch panel screen! Simply select and press on the picture of the drink of your choice and the machine does the rest. There are 8 choices from regular coffee and espresso up to lattes and cappuccino. In addition to the Coffee of the World selections, the Primea also allows you to select an additional EIGHT customizable beverage choices including hot water, coffee (long or short), espresso, latte, macchiato, and cappuccino. The outstanding feature of the Primea Touch Plus is the fully automated integrated milk frothing system. Simply pour the desired amount of fresh cold milk into the 12 ounce milk container, insert it into the machine, and then press the froth button on the machine and watch as perfectly steamed and frothed milk is dispensed. When you choose a latte, latte macchiato, or a cappuccino from the beverage menu, the Primea will automatically combine hot, frothed milk and espresso from the dual function dispensing spouts right into your cup! You can even select the option of dispensing hot milk by itself. You may select either one or two beverages to be prepared at the same time, or if you desire to double the size of the selected beverage, simply choose the option from the menu! With the advanced features of this model you can: follow prompts on the digital message screen, program coffee strength and ounces to be brewed per cup, switch between espresso or coffee options instantly, change coffee temperature, use pre-ground coffee in addition to whole coffee beans, adjust the built-in coffee grinder for fine tuning your espresso/coffee, program the special pre-brew coffee conditioning system, view messages in multiple languages, view the cup counter, program the energy saving mode and timer, adjust the water hardness setting, dispense hot water for tea or hot chocolate, and more. Detailed Product Features: Unique Integrated Milk Frothing System At the heart of the one touch milk frothing system lays the removable, integrated 12 ounce milk container. Simply fill the container with milk and insert it into the left side of the machine. When you choose a milk based drink like a latte, cappuccino, or macchiato from the menu options, the machine will automatically draw milk from the container, and perfectly steam and froth it. While this is happening, the machine will also be preparing the coffee - both the milk and the coffee will automatically dispense right into your cup. If you want to make a cafe mocha, feel free to use chocolate milk in the container. And of course, the Primea will froth the chocolate milk for perfect hot chocolate! The milk container can be stored in the refrigerator when not in use. Pre-Ground Coffee Option This option allows you to pour pre-ground coffee into a funnel that is accessed by lifting a small lid on top of the machine. This feature is perfect when there is someone in the crowd who wants a decaffeinated espresso and there are only caffeinated espresso beans in the machine, or if you wish to sample other blends of coffee. Select the "pre-ground" option using the menu options, then pour pre-ground coffee of your choice into the special coffee receptacle on top of the machine, then push the brew button. After making a cup of coffee with the pre-ground option, the machine automatically resets back to the beans held in the machine. It’s all up to taster’s choice. Special Pre-infusion Brew System Cycle Pre-infusion allows you to get maximum flavor from the brewing process. This advanced system takes the newly ground coffee beans from the internal coffee grinder and correctly tamps the coffee. Next comes “pre-infusion.” To optimize the flavor extraction, a special step injects a little hot water into the freshly ground coffee, in order to soak it and let it swell up. This is done just before the actual brew cycle commences. The grounds are pre-soaked and then brewed before being discarded automatically into the internal dump box. The machine then resets itself for the next brewing cycle. The Primea offers programming options for the pre-infusion cycle and infusion time. The Saeco Brewing System - SBS An absolutely revolutionary innovation. SBS – Saeco Brewing System – Saeco's new patented international exclusive, is the avant-garde technology which has changed the world of coffee machines. This ingenious system allows you to make an infinite variety of coffees from just one automatic machine and at the mere twist of a knob. Whether it is an intense Italian ristretto (turn the knob to the right) or an American-style long coffee (turn the knob to the left) SBS satisfies all tastes giving a full flavor and a truly unique creamy finish. Moreover the coffee dose in the extraction chamber is fully exploited, thanks to the pressure, which remains constant throughout the extraction cycle. This way, all of the aroma is concentrated in the cup, offering you a superb creamy finish and a truly rich flavor. Ceramic Coffee Grinder The ceramic grinder is Saeco's most recent innovation. After careful research, Saeco chose this material to put an end to grinding with metal components. Indeed ceramic is inert, and thus ensures the best results without altering the flavor of coffee. The new ceramic grinder also provides a more even grind, allowing perfect dosing and blending, and giving you more control over the density and body of your coffee. And that's not all: the amount of coffee residue left in the cup is sizably reduced. Long-lasting, minimum noise! Thanks to its sturdy build, the ceramic coffee-grinder will quietly go on grinding to the same high standard for a long time. Aqua Prima Water Filter Softer water for a more robust coffee. With Aqua Prima the number of flavor-altering substances found in water are reduced, and any micro-particles and impurities are filtered. So you can enjoy the improved flavor and full aroma of your coffee. Aqua Prima also reduces the formation of lime scale in the machine so that it lasts even longer. Hot Water Dispenser & Rapid-Steam®Technology The Primea features Saeco's patented Rapid-Steam® system! Turn the steam knob and have instant steam for cappuccinos or lattes. Other systems can have you waiting up to 45 seconds for the steam function to be ready but not with Rapid-Steam®; you’ll have consistent steam for repeated drinks. The special milk frothing tip delivers perfect foam every time for lattes or cappuccinos, even if you have never foamed milk before! The steam wand is located on the right front of the machine and it accommodates frothing pitchers up to 32 oz. If you need instant hot water for making tea, hot cocoa, or Americanos, the hot water feature is available at the press of a button. Built-in 68 Ounce Water Tank The water reservoir can easily be refilled while it is still on the machine or by removing it with the easy-grip handle and filling it at the kitchen tap. The reservoir is made of clear ABS plastic so checking the water level is a breeze. For Perfect Coffee Extraction - a Powerful Pump Delivering a maximum pressure of 15 bars, this on board water pump pulls the maximum flavor from the coffee beans. Coffee Bean Storage Hopper & Internal Waste Box Keeping 1/4 pounds of coffee beans fresh and ready for grinding is the built in, lidded coffee bean hopper. Adjustable Drip Tray The Primea has an automated adjustable height drip tray that raises or lowers the cups below the coffee dispensing spouts. By pressing the button on the drip tray either up or down, a motor will automatically raise or lower the tray to the desired height depending on the height of your espresso cups or coffee mugs. Heated Cup Stacking Surface Located on the top of this machine is a heated surface made of non-stick metal that allows you to stack up those espresso cups and keep them toasty. Using the on-screen functions, you can turn this feature on or off. Rolling Base The Primea is a little too heavy to be picking up and moving around on your counter. Saeco took care of this by adding special rollers to the Primea. Getting into your espresso machine for cleaning and maintenance is important for the long life of your machine. The rolling base makes it easy to access all sides of your machine to remove the water tank and open the side service door. Cleaning & Maintenance of Components Automated Cleaning System - Milk The Primea makes it easy to clean the milk frothing system. After each use, the machine will prompt you to rinse the system. This process is automated and simply entails using the spare milk container that comes with machine. Fill it with water and place it into the machine and choose the milk rinsing cycle from the menu. The machine will draw the water through the milk tubes and rinse the left over milk so that the system remains clean. Depending on the amount of usage, the machine will prompt you to perform a more thorough cleaning using the milk detergent, usually every 2 weeks. This procedure is similar to the daily rinse cycles, but you will be using the specially formulated milk cleaner that removes milk residue that may build up in the system. It may sound complicated to maintain the milk system. However, the amount of time this system saves and the perfect consistency it offers far outweighs the time it takes to clean it. In fact, when you consider the time it takes to froth milk with a conventional steam wand (usually 2 minutes for 12 ounces of milk), rinsing of the pitcher, not to mention the wasted milk if you use too much, this system is faster and more cost effective! Keeping the Rest of the Machine Healthy In order to keep the inside of your machine healthy; your machine must be cleaned periodically. Scale buildup from naturally occurring minerals in your water can build up on sensitive components like the inside of the boiler, which left unchecked can cause considerable damage to the machine. By descaling your machine every two-three months, your machine will last for many trouble-free years. Saeco espresso machine cleaner can be purchased from us or by calling the support number in your user guide. The machine will tell you when it’s time to activate the self-clean system by when the light comes on. After adding our cleaner, just press the clean button. The machine will take it from there. Descaling and general cleaning is important even if you have a sophisticated water filter system, and especially if you use well water. Used coffee grounds are collected in the internal dump box, which can hold up to 15 spent portions of coffee before it requires emptying. Wastewater left over from the rinsing cycles is stored in a removable drip tray. When the indicator light illuminates, simply pull out the tray, empty and reinsert in seconds. All components such as the used grounds container, drip tray, and water tank can be hand washed with regular soap and water. Installation & Accessories Plug it in and the Primea is ready to go. No special plumbing for water intake or discharge and no special electrical outlets are required.
